Being caught

do spiders ever sleep

or do they spend all night
spinning webs

each open path

a lattice of
silk strong
as steel

and by morning
anticipate in shadow
and shade

a network
of weave

catch sunbeams

catch me

a spider web in the trees

Somewhat more absent from the web known as the internet lately due to my current love of long walks along park connectors and through nature reserves.  The year is coming to an end and it's generally been a good one, though seems I'm kinda lost when it comes to one's direction in life. I haven't any kind of "dream" if anybody were to ask me what it is. I've been blessed with kind friends this year, but might have also lost connection with a few that seemed unrecoverable. I discovered I dislike certain things yet tolerate them for certain relationships and it just doesn't work out as resentment builds. Funny how the older I get, I seem to be confused about how I am than ever. I love those nature reserves, those trees, the water, all the sounds; when I'm on those walks, just feels good.

we are woven into similar weaves,
not the same web but similar silken thread.
in my latter years i find that i am more tolerant toward the invasion of 'my space' wheather physically, philosophically or psychologically. not that i enjoy it but that i realize that my space is shared by everyone and everyone shares the space.
i too enjoy nature reserves which i used to walk at every opportunity prior to my total double hip replacement so i live vicariously through those who do.

have a nominally contentious holiday period, mi amigo

Marco: As always, I regard and appreciate your words and thoughts. Happy holidays to you as well.

It is good to see you writing my friend. Perhaps you have not been directionless. For you have spent much time in nature, something that teaches us about ourselves, where we are going and what we are to do. The spider has taught you.

Don't be afraid to simply "ask." In 2005, I asked what am I meant to do? Wow, what ensued was one long journey! It is so good to see you. As you know this old bat repeats herself so, if I haven't said Happy new Year ... well, Happy new Year.

Happy New Year! We can keep wishing one another for another few weeks I think! :)

I'm not sure where I'm going or what I'm doing for most part. And yeah, I think I have a long way to grow.

Raven!! I'm still confused too. I really am. I thought I'd be "further along" in life now. I went to an Open Mike the other night, and I didn't feel the passion, was tired of my songs and felt the new songs are still not ready. I feel almost directionless, and I am not a fan of that feeling. Or... I do have a direction, but temporarily not happy with it.

Still, we are free to attach whatever meaning or perception to all we experience, so the wise ones say, so I am trying to focus on the now always. Trying to realize no problems actually exist.

And TG we always have poetry to fall back on, words expressed never fail us, right? :)

take care. and are you still enjoying the nature walks? Or is it too cold now?

Hi Jannie! I still am enjoying my walks and getting fitter as I do. :) It never gets cold in Singapore but it does get rainy this time of the year. We've been having fine weather in the middle of the current monsoon though.

Thanks for sharing this insight. I try to see problems as learning opportunities, and that's not the way I tend to think --so that's hard. :) I will remember your words.

Ravenblack, I miss your posts. You know, you have placed some wonderful photos on Facebook. Put them on your blog too. I really do miss you.

I don't put pics in my blog because blogger doesn't handle pictures well. Certain size of photos won't even post sometimes.

Miss me? But I visit your blog all the time?! I don't even know if you read my comments or not! :D (Just saying that in a playful tone, not an angry one by the way -- I get the impression you got things going on outside the interwebs)

As for me posting, I have nothing to write about at the moment, so... keep doing stuff.
