He-said-she-said, whose side are you on?

***
(...)

Enticing gossip.
Garnish on the lunch.

{who's not here?
thank heavens, not us!}

              Spaghetti
    sentences

              twirled
at the end of a fork

              manageable morsels
              dripping tomato

    sauce.

Leviathan cravings growl     words slice
knifing into plaster silhouettes
                                                cut    shred

    this, you can't eat
    sitting up straight

{are we all with us?}
                                             Let's huddle.

Cold air whistles soundless between teeth,
wine glasses in the grip of oily fingertips,
the dark red tint eyes in dim corner light.

Who doesn't like a bit of good gossip? But much like lying, if you do a lot of it, you gonna have to do a lot of needless remembering.. of who you told what to and what you not to say in front of whom. It must be human to love making things complicated.

Nice format of words ~ I can envision the gossiping and huddling over plates and utensils ~

I echo Grace's comments. You did a nice job of presenting this menu, Ravenblack.

Can we imagine a long oval table with some of our friends here at Blogspot, dining together, sharing creative embellishments and story telling (gossiping and huddling) while drinking wine and eating strawberry rhubarb pie (my wife's and the crust does it)?

Very cool Raven. Love the phrasing here, some terrific ways to illustrate here, leviathan cravings growl, manageable morsels, spaghetti sentences, garnish on lunch-so many fantastic choices here. You really focus on taste and sight, but also touch upon the other senses as well. Great piece. Thanks

"It must be human to love making things complicated" : how true!

i liked the "disjointed" form of the poem, as if the diners are eating, then stop and talk, and continue eating, then gossip... i hope you get my drift. :)

enjoyed reading this.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm glad it got across. :)

I'm still not quite sure about the poem, but I think it will age and I will revisit this again in the future.

Oh, I agree. We do all love to share a bit of gossip but, I'm not one for too much of it.
My teen on the other hand is always doing the mix, and I've told her time after time, sooner or later, she is going to mix it up one too many times and it will all come unstuck for her then and she may lose some friends, but, do they ever listen...no.
Loved this for its tongue wagging truth :)

I love this and the imagery so clearly presented. I could just see the whole thing...women sitting around at a luncheon..ripping and shredding.

@Daydreamer: Thanks for your comment and share. It's kinda hard to stop because it's such fun. But it's possible to eventually get tired of the chaos and trouble it causes.

@Gayle: Thanks, I'm glad that it was clear for you. It's like that sometimes, shred the subject of the conversation to bits...

everyone seems to love a juicy morsel...and makes us feel in the know...its dangerous though as usually it attempts to undermine and gives little thought often to truth of the matter...

That spaghetti twirled sentence is brilliant. really like that.

Gossip in French "le bruit" Noise!!

Hope you are well. Been thinking of you through this fog of Actual Daily Work I have been flung into.

Just love this, Raven. Wisdom encapsulated in great images. I like that spaghetti sentences metaphor, too.

@Jannie: Hope all is well with you too. :)

Ha, it does seem sometimes that gossiip goes well with food....with manageable morsels anyway!
