Notes while out playing

Sorry for the lack of activity here. I have to admit that lately I've been playing video games rather than writing. That is my other obsession. But no, not Diablo III -- I love the previous two but this new one and it's always-online requirement? Don't like that.

Not to be completely idle, I'm just thinking of what I should try next. Maybe I'll do a NaPoWriMo of my own in July or something. Or something shorter. Like a week every month where I write everyday or something. Maybe I'll really try to do haiku at a stretch. Or do more snapshots. Or maybe focus on the uncommon rather than usual everyday scenes/things. Such fun.

Don't feel bad Raven. I used to get like that with Video Games, had to stop playing RPG's for that very reason. But Pat talked up Supernatural, and for the past week the only thing I've really gotten done, outside a couple poems and paintings, is watching that show and I'm only into season 4 of 7 series.

heh, i am stuck at some missions on "grand theft auto" and that's taking some time off my writing, but it's a good stress-buster as the work in the office is crazy, plus i have a new employer and am adjusting to the new culture.

i like the idea of doing a NapowriMo type of challenge, but i am not sure if i can do it again so soon. once in novemeber in the past, i posted nothing but military stuff. i am thinking of doing a month of sci-fi poetry, or structured poems. but then again there's the video games to spoil the plans. :D

I played Flexicon an hour a day for 4 months to "win" a $200.00 Kitchen Aid mixer. But it was so worth it!! I sold it on eBay and bought something I really wanted -- I forget now exactly what that something was. It's been like... 3 years ago now.

Anyhoo, this post makes me SO happy to learn I'm not the only one who has other pursuits in life besides blogging. :)

And hey, the video game sounds like fun.

And fun is good!!! Keep enjoying life -- that's what we're here for, the wise ones say.

xoxo

Shorter? How about NaHaiWriMo on Facebook. I invite you to join. Commitment to daily haiku. I started in Feb. knowing nothing about haiku. I am studying and being productive. Love to have you there. Liz

Sometimes I feel like I'm starting to write about the same old things. And sometimes having work stress coming in, it's easy to fall into venting mode rather than creating. Venting was how I initially got into writing, so it has served its purpose, for me I guess. There are good vents but too many (writing and reading) can be draining.

@Fred: I watched the first three seasons of that show on Cable and liked it. And then just didn't follow the show anymore.

@dsnake: You should give Dragon's Dogma a try after you are done a bit with GTA. The action is pretty good.

@Jannie: I like that infectious fun-ness that you bring in your posts and comments. :) Thanks for that. I'll keep finding the fun in life. :)

@Raven: Haiku is probably the only form I can hope to do well in. I am currently checking out the articles on the NaHaiWriMo website which are good reads. It's an awesome idea, but I am very reluctant to have it link via facebook. But yeah, I might just do it anyway, with or without joining a community or prompt. :)

I have two newly adopted puppies and it has kept me away from blogging lately. Last night after they went to sleep I started a new character in Dragon Age: Origins which made me think of you :). In my tired state I thought maybe I could write an Ode to DA for OLN - ha! This morning I regained my senses.

Anna,

lol

It has ever crossed my mind to write a poem about an in-game experience -- i have one sitting in draft based on Dark Souls. It doesn't work because it just makes me feel like playing more rather than writing. :D

I think you ought to just do what makes you happy and contented. If it's video games and not writing, it's not the end of the world, is it?
The blogging world looks like it;s here to stay and so, we'll all still be here when you are ready to get back into it all again. Enjoy your games ;)
Thanks for visiting me :)

Always a pleasure, Daydreamer. :)

Ravenblack! I didn't know who you were and went to someone else. Good luck. I feel like it helps me to make a direct commitment to myself in terms of writing and then I get pretty intense about the commitment. If I wait till I thought I had something good enough to post, I'd never do anything, but if I tell myself I'm posting daily or every two days--whatever - then I just make myself do something. I am a bit OCD I think. Anyway, good luck with it all. k.

Just a different way of working, K :) It's interesting to hear how different writers are. I can commit to NaPo but I don't think I could write regularly for long. I do respect those who can post every few days or even everyday.

Thanks for your visit. (I tend to not put a link back to this blog when I don't have a poem here. Sorry for the mystery!)
