Some or sometimes.

The tendency of stagnating

The mind conjures up
dry wit
that will never leave
the dried up
slime pit;

in trying to keep it light,
a moon cradles her face
hiding the cracks;

Bridges built

There are those
who find a way to cross
the gap;

too late to chase
the sun.

some stand still
in order

to consider,

at what point
to walk towards
a new dawn.

The subtitle sounds like a logline to my biography lol really like the short stanzas with plenty of space to stay fresh in your mind before moving on to the next thought. Very good, especially enjoy the midsection of this one, I love the metaphor of bridges. Thanks

Nice reflections...sadly there are those who will not walk, but stand still and stagnate. I particularly like bridges built misaligned...I think we all do at one point in time ~

Wishing you a good weekend ~

Fred: Thanks for your feedback. :)

Heaven: Thanks, it takes a while to come around, it's hard when one journey that started with much promise ends abruptly sometimes. A good weekend to you as well. :)

i really like the stanza on the moon and it covering up its cracks...this is very poignant for something that happened in my not too recent past....

In San Francisco there is a Japanese Tea Garden in the middle of Golden Gate Park that has a bridge that's almost a half circle (so very steep and difficult, but not impossible to cross). I love the imagery in this its very evocative and touching.

Brian and Anna: thanks for your comments.

I must make a note to visit that Japanese Tea Garden if I should ever be in San Francisco again.

Ravenblack, this poem reminds me of something that I used to say to those to whom I was leading in a writing class. These were veterans and they often would not wish to write ... especially poetry.

I told them that writing poetry could function as a way to express themselves while at the same time disguising what they had to say ... you know so no one would give them any guff.

Is this poem disguising feelings? I really like it.

Raven: appreciated your thoughts on this one. I guess this one of the more abstract poems I've written a long time. I wrote this on a day I learned of something disappointing, and yes, in real life, in work, just always have to act cool about things.

Sometimes one just thinks a path is set and then it isn't. But just can't stand there and keep staring at the gap. Self reminder at the end there I guess. :)

I definitely can relate to this one...sometimes I do feel like I stand still too long...waiting...

Yes I'm like that. Thanks for your comment, Bodhirose.
