By the minutes
I saw a woman
wipe away
her tears
before they could
run trails
down her face
as she stands
by the street
corner,
cigarette stains
where the men
wait, out
of the way
of flowing
crowds
as she talks
to her boy
on the phone
a million miles away,
or on another planet,
in another time,
most certainly,
in another place;
trivial matters
of child chatter
amplifying
into precious things
to share
while
she is here
and he is there
and 10 minutes
is all they have.

Somehow we must all connect no matter how and where we're at
Lovely. Maybe it was a clandestine meeting and they were secret lovers.
Great moment captured by you.
a moment nicely captured.
yeah, i guessed the woman wants to stay connected. it's reassuring.
nene, Daydreamer, dsnake: Thanks for the visit, and hope you all are having a great weekend. :)
Wonderful. K .
Reminds me of the song Five Years by David Bowie. Thanks!
"cigarette stains

My favorite part, channeling cummings! =)
Too sweet!
Great observation here. Trivial matter amplifying, great line. Cool title as well. Thanks
This one was quite emotional for me but it may be my frame of mind. I love how you are able to tell us so much about them in so little time.
Thanks for comments, friends.
I did try to think of a story, but decided that me trying to imagine a bit more backstory of this scene might be overdoing it. Glad it works for you all.
Nicely observed and presented.
Thanks Aprille. Appreciated your visit and comments.
