The wonders in a single water drop

Droplet

Like a glass globe dangling
on the tip of a leaf

or a sparkling gem
on the lip of a purple orchid
that just tasted rain,

an ant or a bee looking into it
will discover their world within
miniaturized,

upside-down,

such fragility --
ever at the mercy of wind
and gravity

or a careless bird or beast;

a tremble or a shake
may cause it to fall
and break

if left alone, it evaporates.

(In part, inspired by my friend HVP's SoFoBoMo project "iDrops", a collection of photos taken using the iPhone.)

our world is fragile for sure...as are each of us...love your nature touches in this...can see the drop of tasted rain...tasted is a great hit...your ending is kinda darned if we do or darned if we dont, so we might as well...

Whatever we try to do, only delays the inevitable. I didn't construct it with that ending in mind, it's purely written out of observation. But I prefer such a beautiful thing evaporating although whether it drops or it evaporates, it really has the same end. I suppose we can only enjoy it at present. Thanks for reading and the feedback, Brian.

@Old Raven: It's late over here, I see that you have posted a new poem. I shall get to it on my tomorrow morning. :)

Just an exquisite, microscopic look at the world's beauty, Ravenblack. I love the poet who can see things like this in detail. Victoria

Hi Ravenblack. Loved this beauty you've written. IT immediately brings to mind for me the act of transpiring and all the emergent creativity contained in this simple act that we don't normally perceive just with thought. You've captured this in a very beautiful poetic way!. Thanks for sharing. Cindy

That evanescent drop...much like our lives. This is beautifully expressed.
