Hive mentality
We are a hive; we live
in tall crowded towers
with many other
worker bees
serving a queen
we call Necessities.
We move in swarms
every morning to work,
every evening to shops
for supplies, then home
to rest, recharge
for the labors to come.
We do not question
life: we slave
for the good of the hive.
This is my contribution for Poetry Potluck Monday at Jingle Poetry.
edit1: changed the poem.

Thanks Jingle. Tough subject for me, a lot to rant about but that's it -- too much. :D
interesting piece. Almost a bit automatous in nature, yet the last line for the good of the hive breaks free from that distinction, speculating a reason why, albeit an incongruous with the we slave sentiment. Brilliantly done, I enjoyed this very much:)
This is such a clever take on the prompt. I love the hive metaphor and you touch on so many truths.
Thank you, Fred and live2write2day, for your comments. :) I glad that the hive metaphor worked.
Sometimes I really do feel like I'm doing things in auto mode. And I realize a lot of people around me feel the same way.
Great metaphor the imagery is fantastic too
spot on, my friend!
this piece reminds me of the situation in my office this 2 weeks. a Hive. :) (maybe it's more of a nuthouse.)
Excellent imagery created with this one!
Thanks for sharing.
mindlovemisery, dsnake and Andy: thanks! :)
I love this one! IT is so thought provoking and it brings me to a place in me that wants to scream WHY?
Great!
Cindy: Perhaps someone should shout that question at these bees. :)
